IP range: what's the difference between "Static route" and "Gateway"?

 Client zone, IP range configuration:

static route or gw

 So, when do I need "Static route" or "Gateway"?

Possible use cases:

1. Static route - Alias IP's on the server:

subnet without gw 1

2. Static route - Several dedicated servers in separate broadcast domain:

subnet without gw 2

3. Static route - Virtualization with routed virtual network:

subnet without gw 3

 4. Gateway - Virtualization with bridged virtual network:

subnet with gw 4
